Ranville (Calvados) : Memorial Pegasus

Le Memorial Pegasus, situé sur la commune de Ranville (Calvados), est consacré aux parachutistes de la 6ème Division Aéroportée Britannique pendant la bataille de Normandie de juin à septembre 1944. Ce musée vous propose de découvrir les missions de la 6ème Division Aéroportée qui devaient précéder le Jour-J, le 6 juin1944, le jour le plus long. The Pegasus Memorial, located on the town of Ranville (Calvados), is dedicated to the paratroopers of the 6th Airborne Division Columbia for the Battle of Normandy from June to September 1944. Utah Beach - Sainte-Marie-du-Mont (Manche) : Monument de U.S. Navy



Seul monument consacré à l'U.S. Navy en dehors des États-Unis, il a été sculpté par Steven Spears et inauguré le 27 septembre 2008. Il fait face à la plage Utah Beach.

Only monument dedicated to the US Navy outside the United States , it was carved by Steven Spears and inaugurated on September 27 , 2008. He faces the beach Utah Beach .

Situé du la D913 entre Sainte-Marie-du-Mont et Utah Beach, ce monument unique en France honore la mémoire des marins danois qui ont contribué à la libération de l'Europe lors de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale.

Located on the D913 between Sainte-Marie-du-Mont and Utah Beach , this unique monument in France honors the memory of Danish seafarers who contributed to the liberation of Europe during the Second World War.

Sainte-Marie-du-Mont (Manche) : Monument du 506th PIR de la 101st Airborne Division



Rendu célèbre par la série Band of Brothers, la E Company (Easy Company) du 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment de la 101st US Airborne Division (les Screaming Eagles), dispose d'un monument en son honneur au carrefour de la D913 vers Utah Beach, prendre à gauche la D14, après 500 mètres le monument est situé sur la gauche à l’entrée du chemin qui mène au manoir de Brécourt. Ce monument porte les noms de 25 parachutistes américains tués le 6 juin 1944.

Made famous by the Band of Brothers series, the E Company ( Easy Company ) of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st US Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles), has a monument in his honor at the crossroads of the D913 toward Utah Beach , turn left on the D14 after 500 meters the monument is located on the left at the entrance road to the mansion Brécourt . The monument bears the names of 25 American paratroopers killed in action June 6, 1944 .

Villers-Bretonneux (Somme) : Mémorial National Australien


Situé sur la commune de Villers-Bretonneux dans la Somme, le Mémorial National Australien est un mémorial militaire où reposent de nombreux soldats australiens morts lors de la Première Guerre Mondiale. Il fut inauguré le 22 juillet 1938 par le roi George. L'histoire retiendra notamment que le  24 avril 1918, les Allemands s'emparèrent de Villers-Bretonneux. Durant la nuit, les forces australiennes contre-attaquèrent au nord et au sud de la ville afin de l’encercler. Le soir du 25 avril (jour des commémorations de l'Anzac), l'ennemi était en fuite...

Pozières (Somme) : Blockhaus "Gibraltar" et Mémorial de La Première Division australienne


A la sortie de Pozières, à votre droite en vous dirigeant vers Albert via la D929, se situe d'une part le blockhaus allemand "Gibraltar", vestige encore visible de la Première Guerre Mondiale, et d'autre part le Mémorial de La Première Division australienne. Le rapport entre les deux est simple : le blockhaus fût pris aux mains des Allemands par les Australiens entre les 23 et 26 juillet 1916 lors de la bataille de Pozières, bataille qui s'inscrit dans le cadre de la Bataille de la Somme.

At the exit of Pozières , on the right heading towards Albert D929 , is firstly the German blockhouse " Gibraltar " , still visible remains of the First World War, and secondly Memorial First Australian Division . The ratio between the two is simple: the blockhouse was taken to the Germans by Australians between 23 and 26 July 1916 during the Battle of Pozières , battle that part of the Battle of the Somme.
